Free Places for Two Year Olds

Free early learning (Time for twos) places for some eligible two year olds

Some two year olds maybe able to access a free, early learning place in the term after their second birthday if they meet the government’s eligibility criteria. This is known as Time for twos in Dudley.
 
The eligibility criteria:

  • Children whose parents meet the Benefits/ Free School Meal criteria
  • From September 2014 working parents whose income falls below £16,190.
  • Children who have special educational needs or disabilities
  • Children who are Looked After by the Local Authority

This free early learning place runs for three terms until the child moves in to their free early education place in the term after their third birthday.

If my child is eligible, when will they qualify for their free early learning place for two year olds?
A child born between:
Will be eligible for a free place from:
1st April and 31st August (inclusive) The start of the autumn term following their second birthday until they can access their free early education place at three years.
1st September and 31st December (inclusive) The start of the spring term following their second birthday until they can access their free early education place at three years.
1st January and 31st March (inclusive) The start of the summer term following their second birthday until they can access their free early education place at three years. 

* Although the actual term dates vary from year to year to accommodate national holidays such as Easter, which moves each year, term dates to determine eligibility remains constant.
