Top Tips For Settling Your Child At Nursery
If you meet the criteria for Times for Twos, you will receive a letter stating when your child’s free place becomes available. If you are already with us please just hand the letter into reception so we can ensure the relevant forms are completed for your little ones.
When your child turns 3-years-old they will automatically be entitled to 15 free hours, from the start of the term after their birthday.

Yes, the funded hours run throughout the school year. The nursery remains open through the school holidays but there is no funding available during these times, you are able to access the nursery still but at normal fees.
Yes, whether it be the 15 free hours you are accessing or the 30 hours you are able to add additional sessions or hours at the standard rate. Please see our fees section for current day, half day and add-on hourly rate.
Unfortunately no. The funding is set for the school term and if your child misses a session due to illness or other reason they are not able to have that session at a later date, as we rota staff to the expected number of children attending we are unfortunately not able to offer an alternative session.
Yes, the government funds the childcare of your little one during the time they are with us. However, the cost of meals is not included in the funding from the government so we do charge a nominal fee for the cost of school meals whilst at nursery, alternatively you are able to provide a packed lunch for your child.
We run three session times here at The Learning Journey Day Nursery. Our morning sessions are either 8 am– 1pm or 9 am to 2pm with our afternoon session running 1pm-6pm. The sessions run in parallel with each other, so children are able to gain the same valuable experience not matter which session suits you as a parent best. We offer snack café during both morning and afternoon sessions which is free for all children, giving everyone an opportunity to try and enjoy fresh fruit or vegetables.
We offer the three different slots of our Times for Twos and 15 hours for 3 and 4-year-olds to allow for parental choice and preference, whilst also ensuring that we adhered to ratios and nursery capacity.
For those accessing the 30- free hours childcare funding, we are able to be more flexible due to the flexibility of that funding.
